Who Are We?
We're all the people in the world.
—
We live everywhere in crowded cities and tiny
towns. We live on white, frozen plains and in hot,
We
green forests. live in deserts, on mountainsides,
and on islands in the seas.
We come in many colors. Some of us have warm, tan
skins hke sunlight on sand. Some of us have deep
brown skins, Hke rich chocolate. Some ofus have rosy
pink skins, the color of the sky at dawn. And some of
us have skins that are touched with the red glint of
copper or the tawny gleam of gold. We come in many
colors, and all the colors are beautiful.
We
Our eyes and hair are different colors, too. have
blue eyes or brown eyes or gray eyes or green eyes.
Our hair may be blonde or brown or red or black. It
may be straight or it may be curly.
We come in many different sizes and shapes. Some
ofus are tall and some of us are short. Some of us are
thin and some of us are stout.
We have many different ways of life. We have many
We
different beliefs and customs. like different kinds of
foods. We build our houses in different ways. But
we're very much alike in many important ways. We
must all have food. We all want to be comfortable and
We We
happy. all need love and friendship. all like
beautiful things.
We belong to many different families, groups, tribes,
—
and nations. But we all belong to one big family the
—
human family ofmore than five billion people for we
all have the same ancestors.
—
We're us the people ofthe planet Earth.
