About A Study on the Sustainable Development in the Philippines: A Gentle Proposal for Public Policy-making at NEDA
This paper had an attempt at observing the possibility of sustainable development primarily from the perspective of the community issues and the practices through the case of the Philippines. Along with the biggest social concern of how to alleviate the poverty issue in the community, making an approach from the three fundamental components of environmental protection, social equity, and economic vitality. With the vision of the NEDA to eradicate poverty by 2040, in gaining the more insights into the root-cause of the poverty issues from several viewpoints, my suggestion would be to promote the re-industrialization for the more job-opportunities. Also, expanding the more opportunities for the secondary education and enforcing the resiliency against the natural disaster should also be required. Given that the NEDA can work with the related stakeholders for the realization of economic development and poverty reduction, it would be indispensable for the community to share the vision of alleviating poverty by employing the several beneficial policies shown in the proposal, contributing to sustainable development.
