RESUMEN
During
the course of our work on the genus Senegalia Raf. of Brazil, we encountered a collection [M. Blanchet
2772 GH,
Bentham DC. and
(F, K)] that (1842) cited as Acacia velutina subsequently (1875, 1876) as Acacia
first
monacantha
Willd. This material had mostly have been accepted under the latter name, but as more collections
have become
available, is clear that they represent a previously undescribed species distinct from both Sen-
it

egalia monacantha (Willd.) Seigler Ebinger (syn. Acacia monacantha) and Senegalia velutina (DC.) Seigler

).

Pohl s.n. Brazil, as possibly belonging to this species.
