Introduction
Chilade spandava was origina]ly describe dby Horsfield (1829 )under the genus I"'caen ain
Java ,The butterf iiys distribut iend thc Asian subtropical and tropical zone: Thiwan, South
China, Philippin eS,outheas tAsia, Ceylon and India (Kawazoe ,1992), Larvae feed on
some species of the genus q)cas ,I found the butterfi yin Jeju (sland ,Korea, which is the
firs rtecorded observation of Chilade spandava in Korea.
Chiladespandova(Horsfiel8l2d9,)

Specimens 3,r(Fig1) 19 (Fi2g)fromSeogiN'ipCoity,Jeju-doK,orea (21
examined. and
October 2005). Forewing length .Male: 14.7-15. 7mm, female :14.8 mm.
Ecology .I found many adults of C, pandava along the streets on 21 October 2005, They
often visited flower sof Bidens sp. growing on open ground .Cycas sp., the 1arva flood plant
of the butterf lwyas, planted nearby.
Note
Because C. pandava was easily found along the streets, it is unlikely that they have been

temperate 　zone （33−34°N），　this　subtropical　butterf　lshyould 　die　out 　during　the　colder　winter
months ．　For　example ，　C．　pandava 　is　not 　typically　fbund　in　temperature　Japan　but　it　was
recorded 　in　the　subtropical 　islan　dof　Okinawa　in　l　992 （Mitsuhashi　i　992）and 　i，n　Ybnaguni
in　2001 （Takegami，2001）。　Nonetheless，　they　were 　only　seen 　fbr　，a　few　months 　probably
dying　Qut 　in　winteL 　How 　did　the　butterf　icoyme 　to　Jeju　lslan？dThere　are　at　leas　tt，wo　possi−

クロ マ ダラ ソテツ シジ ミの韓国か らの記録（竹内　剛）
クロマ ダラソ テ ツシジミChitade　spandava はアジアの 亜熱帯から熱帯地域に’分布するチ ョ ウである
が，韓国の済州島で採集されたので報告する．採集地は済州島南部の西帰浦市で，市街地の空き地に
咲くセ ンダングサ科 （Bidens）の花に多数の本種が訪れてい た．幼虫の餌となるソテツ属は付近に植え
られてい た．自然分布か人為分布かは分か らない が おそらく最近移入した と考えられる．日本で は
