Abstract ATaiwanesebupresticしCypriacis(Akiyamaia)mirabilisY.KUROSAWA,
1969,isnewlyrecordedfromtheeasternsideofthecentralmountains.Thispopulationis
somewhatdifferentinelytra1markingsfromthatofthetype1ocalitywhichliesatthewest-
ernside.
Cypriacis(Aklyamala)mirab加shastheemeraldgreenbodywithreddishoror-
angemarkingsontheelytra,andisprobablyoneofthemostbeautifulbuprestidbee-
tlesinthePalearcticRegion.ThelateDr.YoshihikoKUROSAWAgaveatitle,“ASplen-
didNewBuprestid-beetle fromFormosa”forhisoriginaldescriptionofthisspecies,
andshoweditonacolorplateseldomusedatthattime.
Thisspecieshashithertobeenknown fromonlyafewplacesnearthetypelocal-
ity“Tachien”whichissituatedatthewesternsideoftheChungyangShanmo,thecen-
tralmountainsofTaiwan.However,thisspecieswasrecently foundnearTzuenatthe
easternsideofthemountainrange.Thesenewlyobtainedspecimenssomewhatdiffer
fromtheformer intheelytra1markings,thoughnomorphologicaldifferenceisrecog-
nizedbetweenthem.
Inthispaper, Iamgoingtodescribethedifferenceinthemarkingpatternsbe-
tweenthepopulation fromnearthetypelocalityandthat fromnearTzuen1ocatedat
theeasternsideofthecentralmountains.

Eachelytrondecoratedwithtworeddishmarkingsasfollows:
Male. Anteriormarking fromsidemarginatanterior1/10ofelytra1length2)to
anterior3/10;posteriorone fromjustbeforethemiddletoapical1/5-l/20,bothex-
tendingto3rdinterval(Figs.1-2).
Female. Maculationsvariable; both anterior andposterioronesusuallyex-
tendedto3rdinterval,butsometimesoneorbothofthemdonotreachit;eachusually
formingacontinuousmaculation(Fig 3),thoughtheposterioroneisoftensplit into
two(Fig 4).

Male. Bothanteriorandposteriormarkingslessdeveloped,notextendedto3rd
interval(Figs 5-6),thoughreachingtheoutermarginof3rdinterval inonespecimen
takenatPilu.Posterioronereachingapica11/10-1/20.
Female.Anteriormarkingoftenrunningalongsidemarginfromanterior1/10to
anterior 2/5 (Fig 8),connectedwith theposterioronein4specimens(Fig 7),and
neverextendedto3rdinterval.Posteriormarkingenlargedfromjustbeforethemiddle
toapica1l/10-1/20,usuallyconnectedwithanteriormarkingasdescribedabove,and
alwaysextendedto3rdintervalattheapicalpart.

服部宇春:Cypriacis(Akyiama,a)mirabilsiの新しい産地とそこでの個体群の特徴. _ 本種
は, 台湾中部の中央山脈の西側にある「達見」から記載され, またその周辺から知られてきた
が,最近,その山脈の東側にある「花蓮県慈恩(標高2,000m)」およびその周辺で新しく発見
された・新産地で採集された個体は,形態としては基準産地の個体と差異が見当たらないが,
翅鞘の斑紋パターンをやや異にしている.すなわち,雄では翅鞘の前方と後方の2つの赤色紋
が第3間室に達しない点, また雌では前方の赤色紋が第3間室に達しないことと,多くの個体
で前方と後方の斑紋がっながる点である.
