ThesubfamilyAlieculinaebelongstothefamilyTenebrionidaeandresemblesthe
othertenebrionidmemberscloselyintheappearanceexceptforthecomb-shapedtarsal
claws.
ThebeetlesoftheAIleculinaearecharacterizedasfollows: thebodyis4-15mm
inlength elongatedrobusttoelongatednarrowandoftencoveredwithfinesilkyhairs;
thecolorationis lightbrown toblack, infrequentlywithmarkingsontheelytra the
eyesarenotched;theantennaeareusuallythread-likeorsaw-toothed,andrarelycomb-
like;thetarsal formulais5-5-4.Theadultsofthissubfamilyareoften foundonthe
foliage, flowers,orunderthebark.sometimesattractedtolight,andcollectedbybeat-
ing.Morethan40speciesoccurinJapanbutseveralspecieshavenotyetbeennamed.
Recently, theauthorshavehadanopportunitytoexaminespecimensofthea11e-
culinegenus isonlI1-(1collected from Ishigaki Island. This is the frst record of this
genusfromIshigaki Island.Afteracloseexaminationofthesespecimens, theauthors
haveconcludedthatthis formisnew toscience.Thus,anewspeciesof lso1n1;-aisde-

Yellowishbrown,withtwoapicalsternitesofabdomenblack;dorsalsurfacenot
shining; pronotumandelytra coveredwithrather long yellowishhairs. Body sub-
fusiform,moderatelyconvexdorsad.
Head subrhombic, covered with isodiametric microsculpture: clypeus sub-
quadrate,weaklyconvexinmiddle,moderatelypunctulate,ratherdistinctlypubescent,
bentventradin front,withclypeo-fronta1border finelyridgedinlateral parts;genae
(areasbeforeeyes)rathertriangular,punctulate,weaklyraisedlaterad,depressednear
eyes,withoutermarginsoblique; fronsrathersteeply inclinedin front, fairlynotice-
ablyconvex inareabetweeneyes,coarsely punctate diatone about 0.75 times the

puncturesshallowandsomewhat transverse. Eyessubovateindorsal view,noticeably
strongly convex laterad. Antennae filiform, reaching basal t/3ofelytra、ratio of the

Pronotumsubtrapezoida1indorsal view,coveredwithisodiametricmicrosculp-
ture, rather closely,shallowlypunctate、coveredwithpityhairs thoseinmedial part
becomingfiner、thoseinlateralpartslongerandpaler;apexrathernoticeablyproduced
anteriacしfinelymargined;baseroundlyproducedandclearlyborderedinmedialpart,
sinuousinlateralparts; frontanglesrounded,hindanglesnearlyrectangular indorsal
view;sidesgentlydeclined tolateralmargins.whichare fnelybordered: discmoder-
atelyconvex inmiddle,mildlyinclinedpostero-1aterad.Scutellumsubpentagona1,al-
most at,coveredwithisodiametricmicrosculpture,sparselyhaired.
Elytraabout 18 timesaslongaswide, 3.6 times the lengthand 12 times the
widthofpronotum,widestatbasal4/9;dorsumconvex,highestat themiddle.very
weaklyflattenedininterio-basa1part;discwithrowsofpunctures,whichareshallowly
grooved; intervals feebly convex、weakly wrinkled, scattered with small granulate
punctures,eachwithdecumbentpityhair;humerinearlyrectangular,hardlyswollen;
apicesfeeblyproducedposteriad.
Terminalsegmentofmaxillarypalpusslender.Prosternumsparselyscatteredwith
punctures;meso-andmetasternapunctate,withareasbeforemetacoxaeimpunctate;
abdomensparselycoveredwithyellowishhairs.
Legsmoderate-sizedinthemembersofthisgenusandordinaryinshape;protar-
susobviouslyshorter thanprotibia;ratiosoflengthsofpro-,meso-andmetatarsalseg-
ments:0.35,0.30,0.25,0.35,0.64;1.00,0.50,0.30,0.30.0.40;1.70,0.60,0.25,0.30.
Malegenitaliaextremelyslender about15mm inlengthand0.1mminwidth,

gently curved in lateral view; fused lateral lobessmall and nib-shape 0.01mm in

Notes. Thisnewspeciesresembleslso1nl1-aoculata(MARsEUL,1876),butcan
bedistinguishedfromthelatterbythesmallerbody(5-6mmin1. oculata),with the
eyesmorestronglyconvexlatera thescutellumsubpentagonal (triangular in1.ocu-
1ata),andthedorsalsurfaceyellowishbrown(feeblyreddishbrowntoyellowishbrown
in1.oculata).
要 約
花塚正裕・益本仁雄・近 雅専l :石垣島産のフナガタクチキムシ属1新種. - これま
でフナガタクチキムシ属の甲虫は日本本土に分布するフナガタクチキムシのみが知られていた
が,石垣島にも本属が分布し, 新種であることが判明したので, lso,n,,・a,s/,,gakeins,sspnov.と
命名した.
