I’m writing these words
with my eyes.
To be precise, I am working on a computer
connected to an eye-tracking system.
This is how I operate my computer as
I am no longer able to type or use the mouse.
My name is Masahiro Fujita.
I have lived abroad for many years due to
my father’s work.
People call me Hiro.
I have ALS.
(also known as
Lou Gehring’s
disease, or MND)

僕は今、この文章を目で書いている。
正確には、視線とまばたきでパソコンを操作して書いている。
なぜなら、もうキーボードをたたくことができないから。
僕は藤田正裕。
父の仕事の関係で海外での暮らしが長く、みんなからは“ヒロ”と呼ばれている。
僕は、ALS患者だ。

I’ll tell you from the beginning.
This is not a book, but rather a short “diary” of my life.
Honest thoughts, emotions on certain days and
happenings, before and after ALS.
I’m sure the “face” I show and my words vary
psychotically.
Blessed with too good of a life since I was born.
And now, this precious e(cid:95)perience, to (cid:196)ght and
win it all back.
It’s a reality I can’t run from.
As “I” am changing every day, more dramatically
than ever before.
Please let me share this “diary” as raw as I can.
最初に言う。
これは「本」というより、僕の人生の短い「日記」。
ALS前と後の、ある日、ある出来事、ある思いを、なるべく素直に記してある。
その瞬間によって、表情も言葉も違うであろう……。
幼少期から今まで、「普通」とは言えない恵まれた生活。
今はそれを取り戻す、貴重な闘いの経験をしている。
逃げることのできない現実。
日々、変わっていくさま。
生で共有させてください。
