The Youth Ministry of the Church of Pentecost fnds it necessary to equip and
build up the Youth in particular and the Church public in general to face the
challenges of living right as believers and witnessing about Christ Jesus in a
knowledgeably sophisticated world. Our world is changing very fast, and it will
take a solid anchor in God’s Word to still the tides of worldliness.
This year’s devotional Guide is published to enable its users adopt a regular
and invaluable reading and study of the Scriptures to enhance Christian
growth.

The LORD, our God has once again been good to us and has helped us to
produce this year’s edition of the Daily Devotional Guide: STREAMS OF LIVING
WATER. We give unto Him all the glory and praise.
The Youth Ministry specially acknowledges the good work done by the
Devotional Guide committee, led by Pastor David Amankwaa. They incessantly

FOREWORD
The Christian race is comparable to the desert journey towards the land of
promise by the Israelites. It does not take too long for the soul to get thirsty and
weary. It, therefore, takes a daily attempt to ‘drink’ from the living streams that
the Almighty God supplies through the reading and meditation of His Word and
fellowship with His Spirit.
The Youth Ministry, in recognising its duty to equip and build up the youth in
particular and all Christians in general, has painstakingly churned out this
Devotional Guide to help a consistent and deep fellowship with God.
To be able to impact the next generation with the pure Word of God, the writers
of this edition have been quite focussed in their presentations, treating specifc
issues and selected books of the Bible. Lessons on The Faithfulness of God;
Commitment and Integrity; Keeping your priestly garment pure; The beatitudes;
Christian Suffering; Issues of Love, Academic Excellence, Children and Singles;
Knowing Jesus, The communion and the baptism of the Holy Spirit; Missions
and Missionaries, The cost of Obedience and Disobedience, Power Evangelism,
the Foundational Doctrines, the fruits of the Holy Spirit and the Ministry of
Intercession and others will give you an in-depth exposure into these areas in a
devotional style. Again, the study of the books of Daniel and Jude will help you
read these books in a devotional form. Above all lessons on who Jesus is will
help you appreciate Him as your LORD and propel you to worship HIM always.
The introduction of the Weekly Memory Verses instead of the Daily Memory
Verses will help everybody grasp the import of the memory verses, internalise
them and live them. Again, in every week, the devotions from Monday to
Saturday have been summarised on the Sunday to help you recap what you have
studied for the week as you prepare for your Sunday Church services. Having
your devotional time everyday must become easier with these interventions.
‘Streams of Living Water’ is for both the Youth and adults. In fact, it’s for every
Christian and non-Christian, who wants to know Jesus and grow to be like Him.
Every serious Christian must own a copy. Please, make it a point to read it every
day. When you are consistent with God through a Daily Quite Time, your progress
shall be evident to all men (1 Timothy 4:12-15).
I recommend this Devotional Guide to every focussed Christian. May it produce
within your spirit a wellspring of life that will never go dry.

HOW TO USE THIS DEVOTIONAL GUIDE
This book must be used as a Quiet-Time Resource Material.
WHAT YOU NEED
• A quiet period during the day, usually very early in the morning.
• A quiet place where you can have intimate fellowship with the Holy Spirit
without distractions like (radio, Television, Magazines, Letters, Phones, Social
media etc)
• Your Bible in a version you easily understand.
• A notebook and a pen to record thoughts, lessons and revelations received
from the Word of God during your Quiet time period. You may also note personal
and intercessory prayer request in this notebook.
HOW TO DO YOUR QUIET TIME
• Start with Thanksgiving and Adoration (you may sing softly some songs of
praise and worship). Thank God for His divine protection throughout the night
and pray for insight into His Word.
• Read the Scripture(s) for the day (frst time quickly through and second time
slowly). Take special note of the Key Verses and the Memory Verse for the
week and try to memorise them.
• Meditate on the Scripture(s) you have read. (“Meditate” means to think
deeply and prayerfully, usually in silence, on the Scripture you have read).
• To help you meditate, you may ask yourself the following questions, and
record your answers as the Holy Spirit speaks to your heart.

The acrostics “SPACE” and “PETS” as set below should guide you to formulate

• Please make sure you do your own meditation before reading the comments
in the Devotional Guide.
• Try to read through the Life Application lessons and answer any question
posed at the end of each write-up if any.
• Pray again on the lessons you have learnt from the day’s passage; about
other prayer topics, family, Church, nation, etc committing the day into God’s
protective hands.
• Share with others any new lessons that you have learnt from the Bible.
• Praise the Lord for the revelation you have received from the Word of God.

GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS
Scripture Readings: Lamentation 3:22-27; 2 Cor. 1:18-22
Exposition:
The frst stanza of the song composed by Thomas Chisholm is rendered as:
“Great Is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father!
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not,
Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
Refrain:
Great Is Thy faithfulness; Great Is Thy faithfulness,
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord unto me!
It is an undeniable fact that the faithfulness of God is great towards us. In
fact, He is a covenant keeping God. He promised us of divine protection,
preservation, provisions and peace for the year 2016 and He has done them
far exceedingly abundantly above what He promised. We have enjoyed His
mercies, grace, favour, goodness and glory for the past years. Indeed, all that
we needed His hand has provided and by His grace He has faithfully ushered
us into the year 2017.Our eyes have seen His salvation. Ebenezer, thus far the
Lord has brought us.
Prophet Jeremiah tells us that the Lord’s mercies are fresh every morning and
great is His faithfulness towards us. Therefore we are able to put our trust
in Him, because He is a dependable God. Apostle Paul also informs us that
the promises of God for us are always Yes and Amen in Christ Jesus. Oh the
message of the Son of God, Jesus Christ our Lord, even the Gospel that we
preach and is preached to us is not “Yes” and “No” but is and has always been
“Yes” in Christ Jesus.
Today is the frst day of the year 2017. Never start this year without God. He is
the author and fnisher of your life. He is able to uphold you with His right hand

and keep you throughout the year. Lean on His everlasting faithfulness. Has He
promised and failed you before? No! Why don’t you praise and worship Him for
His unfailing Love towards you?
Have a fruitful, fourishing and faithful new year!
Prayer: What shall I say unto the Lord for His faithfulness unto me? I will
continue to worship You Lord and count on Your Great faithfulness in the year
2017. Thank You Lord, Amen. (DA)

THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD
Scripture Readings: Deut. 7:6-16; 2 Tim. 2:11-13
Exposition:
Leaning and counting and God’s faithfulness everyday is very vital in our
Christian lives. Perfect Faithfulness is one of the communicable or moral
attributes of God. Communicable attributes are those characteristics that
belong to God in relation to His creatures. They are called communicable
because God intends His people to possess them. In other words, He shares
those attributes with human beings. The faithfulness of God therefore means
that He is absolutely trustworthy, dependable, loyal, reliable, unfailing and true
to His Word. He is a covenant keeper and does not lie. In fact, He is faithful and
cannot deny Himself.
In today’s readings, we learnt that God has chosen us out of this world to be
His own as a treasured possession. He is the Lord our God, a faithful God
who keeps His covenant of mercy, love and grace to thousands of generations
who love Him and keep His commandments. In fact, the faithfulness of God is
revealed as a covenant between Him and His people. He expects us to serve
Him and keep His words so that it will be well with us.

Today is the second day of the year. In keeping your part of the terms of the
covenant you are to draw your visions and plans for the year(s) ahead and
commit them to the Lord. You know, dear one, you cannot live an aimless and
visionless life this year. The Psalmist said that we are to commit our ways to
the Lord and He will bless us. (Psalm 37:5-6). If you do not have a vision and
mission in life, how can you commit them to the Lord? As you pursue your
vision, you will be constraint by many challenges in life but do not quit it. In
fact, winners never quit, and quitters never win.
As you play your part in the covenant this year, God will prove Himself faithful
in all you do and cause you to be fruitful in every facets of your life. Receive
power each day through the Word of God and prayer to enable you pursue your
God given vision!
Prayer: Father I thank you for Your faithfulness. Help me to remain faithful to
You to the end in Jesus Name. (DA)

THE DEPTHS OF GOD’S FAITHFULNESS 1
Scripture Readings: Deuteronomy 7:6-16; Ephesians 3:14-21
Exposition:
The faithfulness of God is multi-faceted. It is a manifold attribute. It is so deep
that no human being can fathom it. In describing the love of Jesus which is
shared abroad in our heart by the Holy Spirit, Apostle Paul could not get the
right adjective to qualify it. In fact, this love is unspeakable, immeasurable,
indescribable, incomprehensible, exceeding great and far beyond human
understanding; and so is the faithfulness of God. God’s faithfulness is so deep
that no science and human effort can describe it. Apostle Paul could talk of
the love and for that matter the faithfulness of Jesus as foursquare: breadth,
length, height and depth.

• The breadth talks of the extent and vastness of the love and faithfulness
Christ. His faithfulness covers all classes of people: the Jews and Gentiles;
poor and rich; the kings and the slaves; the believers and unbelievers; the
educated and uneducated; the whites and the blacks to mention but few.
I agree with the lyrics in a song composed by H. Mitchell & L McPherson:
“Everybody ought to love Him; everybody, everywhere; everybody ought to love
Him; He will banish every care. He is the author of salvation; condemnation
He did bare. Jesus died for every nation, everybody everywhere.” Oh! The
faithfulness of God covers everybody everywhere, every nation, tribe, colour,
rank and fle.
Dearly beloved, God loves you and His faithfulness towards you endures
forever. Only align yourself with His Word and promises. Return to Jesus and fx
your eyes on Him, because He is the author and fnisher of your faith (Hebrews
12:2). Now, may the love of Jesus which surpasses all understanding be your
portion even today and forever, Amen.
Prayer Guide: Dear God, I thank You for your faithfulness for me, my family,
Church and Nation. Help me to remain faithful to You to the end in Jesus’
