ONEWORLD ACCURACY
Oneworld Accuracy, based in Vancouver, Canada, was founded in 2000. We
are the principal provider of Standardization and EQA programs in Canada.
We provide a comprehensive suite of EQA programs spanning all clinical
disciplines as well as a unique set of Standardization programs. All our programs
are managed on OASYS (Oneworld Accuracy System), an online informatics
system that we operate, host and continually improve. We believe that OASYS
is the most sophisticated, advanced and flexible informatics system of its kind
anywhere. All our programs are supported by a dedicated team of laboratory
professionals who strive to provide participants and stakeholders with insightful
and responsive email and toll-free phone support in English and French.
We currently support almost 180 Canadian networks on OASYS. These networks, which include regional health authorities
and provincial oversight bodies, use the performance information from our programs to monitor and improve the quality of
testing of their participants. Our EQA programs have supported provincial oversight for over a decade in Quebec by the
Laboratoire de Santé Publique du Québec.
Our eGFR (creatinine standardization) program has been adopted as the cornerstone of provincial standardization
initiatives in British Columbia and Nova Scotia. The British Columbia experience was summarized in a paper entitled Regional
Implementation of Creatinine Measurement Standardization published in the Journal of American Society of Nephrology
(J Am Soc Nephrol 19: 164–169, 2008). It was projected that our program could reduce average total error in creatinine
measurement from 23.9% to 8.7% and average analytical bias from 16.5% to 2.7% and could reduce incorrect classification
of stage 3 chronic kidney disease for 449,000 patients (84%) with potential savings of $36 million.
We also act as the Secretariat to the Oneworld Accuracy Collaboration. Here’s
an overview of what we do as Secretariat. We invite leading clinical and research
groups around the world to become Science Architects in the Oneworld Accuracy
Collaboration. We embed their science in programs that assess, improve and
standardize test results. We add those programs to OASYS and localize OASYS into
desired languages. We invite national groups to own the challenge of achieving
testing accuracy in their countries. We empower them as Collaboration Members.
We give them all the tools they need – programs, online system, training and the collective experience of their Collaboration
peers. We invite everyone who does medical testing – laboratories, doctors, clinics, pharmacies to participate in our
Standardization and EQA programs.
Oneworld Accuracy is the largest and most successful collaboration of its kind in the world. We now have more than 51
Collaboration Members providing 28,000 annual program subscriptions featuring the science of 4 Science Architects to 5,000
participants in 130 countries.
