My topic tonight is “Revelation’s Battle of Armageddon
and the Seven Last Plagues”
What is the first thought that comes to your mind when you
think of the seven last plagues, or what many people call

“the Apocalypse”?
When you think of these final, end-of-the-world, last plagues,
you think about sores and rivers of waters turning to blood,
and giant hail stones falling to earth.
You think about darkness, the sun scorching men and

women and a battle called Armageddon.
The seven last plagues is not a topic that normally makes
you feel very good.
The topic of the seven last plagues often makes people
uncomfortable and even fearful.
One day will we be watching TV only to hear this
announcement— “We interrupt this broadcast…”?
And then be shown some terribly violent pictures on
television of earth’s final cataclysm.

Is this the way the end will take place?
One day will our calm be interrupted with scenes of—
Earthquake,

And volcanic eruptions?

One day will we hear the startling news that a final world war
called Armageddon has erupted?
Will our TV screens be filled with images of conflict, strife
and famine? 8
Will there be an unprecedented series of world-wide
natural disasters?
Or maybe we’ll be watching TV one day and the announcer
will come across the screen saying that there has been an— 9
Unprecedented world financial collapse.

Or possibly there will be a global international conflict.
As we think about the seven last plagues what normally
comes to our mind?
Some pretty tough times; some pretty difficult times. 11
It is difficult to harmonize these plagues with the love of God.

How could a loving God afflict people with sores from
head to toe?
How could a loving God turn rivers of water into rivers
of blood?

What really is all this about in the Book of Revelation?
And when do these seven last plagues occur?
When does this period of tribulation occur?
Are God’s people, as some people believe, raptured
before this period of seven last plagues?
Are they caught up before the tribulation? 13
Or, are they here during the tribulation?
Are we on the verge of the tribulation, the time of the
end and the battle of Armageddon?

Will we one day see the amazing headlines of the Book of
Revelation fulfilled in our daily newspapers?
Will those headlines read something like this in some
newspaper? 15
Is this the end?
What does the Book of Revelation really reveal about the
sequence of events before Jesus comes?

Where do these seven last plagues and this tribulation fit in?
And what does this all have to do with our personal
commitment to Christ and the kingdom of God?
The Book of Revelation has some answers.
Revelation the 14th chapter verse 6 and onward says—

“Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven,
having the everlasting gospel
God’s last day message flies to every nation, kindred,
tongue and people— 17
to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every
nation, tribe, tongue, and people—
One thing is for certain, God’s last day message is not
preached in a corner. 18
It spans the earth.
It leaps across geographical boundaries.
It touches every ethnic and language group.
This God of immense, enormous love has a message for the 19
whole world.
He wants men and women saved not lost.
The message goes on in verse 7—
saying with a loud voice, ‘Fear God and give glory to
Him, for the hour of His judgment has come;

“Fear God.”
Not in the sense of being afraid of God but rather
“respecting” or “obeying God.”
The scripture then goes on to say, “Give glory to Him for the
hour of His judgment has come.” 21
In a world living in the judgment hour or the climax of world
history, our attention is drawn to worship.

and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea
and springs of water.’”
What do we call the one that made heaven and earth and
the springs of water?

What do we call Him? The What?
The Creator.
Revelation 14:7 calls us to worship the Creator.
Has the Creator left us a symbol that He has created the
world?
What is the symbol that we worship the Creator? 23
It’s the Bible Sabbath.
Here is a call to all humanity in the judgment hour to worship
the Creator by remembering the memorial of His Creation.
Namely the Sabbath.

Verse 7 talks about true worship; verse 9 talks about false
worship.
Revelation 14:9, 10
“Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud
voice,

‘If anyone worships the beast and his image, and
receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand,

Now notice there are two worships.
There is true worship—worshipping the Creator.
And there is false worship—worshipping the beast.
The entire world will be brought to a crisis over the subject of 27
worship. What we are dealing with is not something that is
insignificant.

It’s not something that is unimportant. It is a final conflict in
the last days over who you worship and how you worship.
Worship is at the very core of Christianity. This struggle over
worship is Satan’s last attempt to undermine God’s authority.
Those who worship the beast drink of the wine of the wrath
of God. Continuing in Revelation 14:10—
he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of
God,

which is poured out full strength into the cup of His
indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and
brimstone

in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence
of the Lamb.”

God’s last day message is a warning against being a
recipient of what the Bible calls the wrath of God.
God’s last day message is given in love.

A loving God wants to warn men and women so that they will
not be afflicted by the greatest catastrophes ever to hit this
world through the seven last plagues in the time of
tribulation.
God is so loving He wants to be our refuge. He wants to be
our security in the greatest time of trouble in the history of
the world.

He is so loving that He’s given a message to worship the
Creator so we will not worship the beast and receive the
wine of the wrath of God.
Revelation predicts a final conflict over true and false
worship.
Revelation 14:7 calls us to worship the Creator.
Revelation 14:9 calls us not to worship the beast. 32
Revelation 14:12 describes the people who worship the
Creator and don’t worship the beast in these words—
Revelation 14:12
“Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who
keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.”
In contradistinction or opposition to those that worship the 33
beast, God has a group of people who worship the Creator
by keeping His Sabbath.
They lovingly obey Him and keep His commandments.
The great conflict in the last days of earth’s history is not a
struggle in the Middle East. It is not a struggle in Jerusalem.
The great conflict in the last days of earth’s history is a
struggle in the human mind. The great battle is a battle
for the soul. It revolves around the issue of worship.
The great battle in Revelation is a battle between Christ and 34
Satan for the mind.
A Test of Loyalty
It is a battle between Christ and Satan for your loyalty.
It is a battle between Christ and Satan for allegiance.
It is a battle between Christ and Satan for our worship.

This is what the final battle is all about.

It is similar to the crisis Daniel’s friends faced in their day.
In the days of Daniel there was a great test of loyalty.
In the days of Daniel church and state united.

A powerful world ruler passed a universal decree affecting
the entire Babylonian empire.
He forced his citizens to worship the golden image he set up.
It was a counterfeit system of worship.
This image was all of gold.
You remember the image of Daniel 2 had a head of gold,
chest and arms of silver, thighs of brass, legs of iron
and feet of iron and clay.
It represented the four great nations which would rule the 37
world;
Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome and the divisions
of the Roman Empire.
But Nebuchadnezzar did not like God’s interpretation so
Nebuchadnezzar changed the truth into a counterfeit.
He commanded a false system of worship.

In the last days an attempt will be made once again to
substitute a counterfeit for divine truth.
Men and women will be compelled to worship at the shrine
of false worship.

Satan will appeal for their loyalty.
He will appeal for their allegiance.
There will be a conflict over the subject of worship.

Revelation 15:1
“Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and
marvelous: seven angels having the seven last plagues,
for in them the wrath of God is complete.” 40
When the Bible talks about those who receive the mark of
the beast, receive the wrath of God, it’s talking about
receiving the seven last plagues.
Now some people wonder about this idea of the wrath of
God. They ask what is God’s wrath?
Is God’s wrath His anger?

God’s wrath is not his anger at sinners; it is His
judgment upon sin.
Our God is a loving God. His love is everlasting. God has
sent a message of true worship but when men and women

turn their backs on Him, when they reject His claims and
renounce His wonderful love, the wrath of God, or God’s
judgment upon sin falls upon them.
Even now God’s Holy Spirit protects this world from the
vicious conflicts that Satan wants to bring. The Bible says,
“The wages of sin are death.”
Satan is a destroyer. If God even now didn’t protect the
world this world would be plunged into scenes of destruction
that our minds couldn’t possibly imagine.
During the seven last plagues God withdraws His
protective hand and all of the hellish forces break loose.
Wind, rain, fire, storm, the judgments of God fall on this
world. 43
God’s wrath is not His anger. It’s His judgment upon sin.

The seven last plagues are the awesome result of a
world separated from God and a planet in rebellion.
The seven last plagues are the result of a planet that is
separated from God. 44
This planet has turned its back on God.
At the last moment of time Jesus Christ, when the plagues
have taken place and the whole world has seen the
devastating results of evil, wickedness and sin, Christ
returns to deliver His people.
Now what is the sequence of these last day events?
Let’s read them.

1. The world-wide preaching of the Gospel.
First, God has a worldwide message.
The preaching of the gospel which goes to the ends of the
earth.

This gives every human being an opportunity to make a final
choice for or against Christ.
2. All humanity makes a final eternal choice.

3. The mark of the beast is enforced in a final conflict
over worship.
