Custody tranafer tables are presented for axygen, argon, nitrogen,
heLivm, and hydrogen, The tablea are based on standard reference data
previously cospiled ty the National Burgay of Stendards. Two sets of
tables: are provided for each floid. Tables in anginsoring units cover
‘he range ~I0 to 1J0°F with preseures from 100 to 13,000 psig. Tables

Introduction .

2. Soope
Two tables ere provided for each of the five flufcs. The First gives
contents in stantard eubia feet/aubia feat (SCF/ou ft) as a function of tempers
ture ana preseure (+F and patg) and the seodnd gives density in kg/m as a
funetion of temperature end pressure (K and He).
2.1 Gontenta Tables
The contents tables: give the volume that-a cubic foot of gas would cooupy
at standard conditions 1f a.cubté foot st a given temperatiire and pressure were
expanded to standard. conditions, The tables provide these valuas in the-range

2.3, Standard Conditions
‘The standard conditions used in these tables sve those-specified by the
Compressed Gas Association [5]. These are defined as TO*F (294.26 4) and
14.696 ap/in® (0.101325 wa).
3. Using the Tapies
3.1 Neagurenenta and Data Required
‘The Following data are needed to determine the amount of gas in the
container:
‘Teaperature ~ tha temperature of the gas in the container or the teaperature of
‘the container thself must be deterained.
Pressure _ ~ the presgure of the gas in the container must ba deterained.
Volume ~ the volume of the oontainer aust bo known. This 1s usually
provided, ty the manufacturer or supplier of the container and Is
determined by measuring the volume of water the tank olds.
3.2 Calculations
nce the temperature and pressire are deternined for a partioular gas, the
table 1s used to determine the quantity of that gaz in the container. Tha use
of the Contenta Tables (enginsering units) and Density Tables (SI units) sre ae

3.3 Interpolation
‘inen gauges used to measure the tenperature and presoure of the container
fare more accurate than the Ancremente for teaparature (+ 2°F or + 2K) or
pressure (+ 100 palg on + 0.5 MPa) given in the tables, 1t is appropriate to
interpolate batween the next nighest and aext lowest values in the tables.
Examples of interpolation Wil be given in Seation 4.
4 Examplee
For the sake of staplicity, nitrogen tables will be used in all of the
examples, but the calculations are performed in exactly the same manners fo>
all of the siutas.
