Suspended in a nightmare
"Quick, shut the door!" Kristen shouted. "Shut thedoor'/'
We slammed the door hard on the creature, but were
unable tocloseitcompletely. Thewerewolfsnarled inpain and
struck the wood with all his force. The door cracked open. A
glisteningblack snout edged around the panel, pinkish tongue
licking its lips. Demon-red eyes appeared and zeroed in on my
terrified face. A hairy paw raked through the air, missing my
hands by inches.
The werewolf threw back its head and howled, in hungry
anticipation.
"Put more weight against the door!" Kristen cried.
I did as she commanded, but it wasn't working.
Theforceandpowerofthewerewolfpushedthedooropen
inchby terrifying inch. Another few inches and itwould shove
its way into the kitchen.
Kristen and I couldn't hold on. She was stronger than me,
butwe were both getting tired.
"What are we going to do?" I shouted.
The werewolf was snarling, enraged, slamming its weight
against the flimsybarricade.
The repeated force of its blows made Kristen and me slide
acrossthelinoleuminourslippers. Onemorefoot. ... Sixmore
inches
. . ,
