withrecommendedresourcepoolvalues.Aresourcepoolisalogicalabstractionforthevirtualmachinesthat
canbeusedtomanageresources.Resourcepoolscanbegroupedintohierarchiesandthenusedtopartition
CPUandmemoryresources.
YoucanconfigureandpreparethevirtualmachineusingeithertheVMwarevSphereClientorWebClient.
WerecommendthatyouusetheVMwarevSphereWebClient,sincetheLatencySensitivitysettingfor
resourcepoolsmustbeconfiguredasHigh.TheLatencySensitivitysettingcanonlybeconfiguredusing
theVMwarevSphereWebClient
Note WhendeployingtheCiscoAPIC-EMinavirtualenvironment,youmustfirstconfiguretheVMware
systembeforeinstallingCiscoAPIC-EM.ToinstallCiscoAPIC-EM,youneedtodownloadtheISO
imagecontainingthecontrollerfromCisco.comandthenmaptheISOimagetotheVMwaresystemand
bootfromit.

poolswiththerecommendedvalues.Aresourcepoolisalogicalabstractionforthevirtualmachinesthatcan
beusedtomanageresources.ResourcepoolscanbegroupedintohierarchiesandthenusedtopartitionCPU
andmemoryresources.
Note Youshouldfirstcreateanewresourcepoolwiththerecommendedconfigurationvaluesasdescribedin
thisprocedure,andthensubsequentlycreateavirtualmachine(wheretheCiscoAPIC-EMwillbeinstalled)
onthatresourcepool.
