Preface to the Second Edition
ThesuccessofthefirsteditionofthePocketAtlasofSectionalAnatomy
wasverygratifying.Thenumerousforeign-languagetranslations,plusthe
manypositiveresponsesandconstructivecriticisms,motivatedustoim-
provethebookfurther.Werealizedthatsignificanttechnologicaladvan-
ceshadbeenmadesincethefirstedition,especiallyinsectionalimaging
procedures(subsecondspiralCTscanning,latestMRimagers).Resolvedto
gomorethanjust“halfway,”wereplacedalloftheoriginalimagesand
colorlinedrawingswithnewones.Asaresult,thisvolumeismorethan
justasecondedition,morethanarevision.Itevenincludesacompletely
newchapteronvascularandbiliarytractimaging.
Weretainedanimportantfeatureofthefirstedition:awealthofinfor-
mation presented in a user-friendly form. As before, the material is or-
ganizedaccordingtoastrictformatthatmakesuseofmulticoloredtext
andsmallschematicdrawingsthatincludespecialviewsofthepulmo-
