Table Of ContentPostgraduate Welcome Week 2014 - 2015
On behalf of the college and the Junior Common Room, welcome to Cuth’s! The following
contains information for all the postgraduate welcome events and activities taking place in
college. There is a lot on offer, some activities being exclusively for postgraduates, whilst others
are mixed in with the new undergraduates. The purpose of the week is to introduce you to
Durham and to the postgraduate community at Cuth’s and all that is on offer here, as well as
giving you the opportunity to meet and get to know your fellow students. If you are living in
Brooks this year, both home and international postgraduates are welcome to arrive from
Wednesday 24th September onwards.
The Postgraduate Welcome Week has been structured to give you the choice and flexibility to
structure your week around what you want to do. Although the main nights are combined with
undergraduates and held in college, we have tried to cater the week to the many students from
different backgrounds, so there will also be quieter options each night. There are a number of
ticket options for postgraduates depending on what you want to do. These options aim to reflect
the fact that you have the freedom to go to the events and activities that suit you.
Postgraduate Wristband: Available to postgraduate students only, this will get you into
£15 all JCR nights.
Fresher’s Wristband: £30. Available to all students, postgraduate and undergraduate,
this gives you entrance to all JCR events and discounted
entry to the different club nights.
Pay on the door: If you don’t want to buy either wristband, and wish to attend
£5 per night. on a night-by-night basis only, entrance is £5 on the door for
JCR Fresher’s Week events.
Please note too that some events must be signed up for. Sign-up sheets will be available in
Brooks Bar from the 24th September onwards. If you have any questions about any aspects of the
Welcome Week, or postgraduate study in general, you can contact the JCR Postgraduate Rep,
Harry, at [email protected]
