speciesofthegenusisalsogiven.
BeforeSAsAJI's account (1986), thegenus Arthromacla KIRBY, 1837, has been
represented in Taiwan onlyby A abnormalisKoNo, 1929.SAsAJl (1986) addedone
newspecies, A fo(rmosana, andoneobscurespeciesto the Arthromacra faunaof
Taiwan.Followinghim,MAsuMoTo(1988)describedtwonewspecies,A tsuyukiiand
A minuta, listedthethenknownspeciesofthegenus,and transferredA abnormalis
tothegenusHosoha,nudamaestablishedbyhimself.
Inthispaper,Iamgoingtogivenotesonthethreeknownspecies,andtodescribe
threenewspeciesunderthenamesArthromacrabico1o1・sp nov., A. imasakaisp nov.,
and A tana sp nov. A key to theTaiwanesespeciesof thegenusArth1・omacrawill
beprovided.

Description. Male. Body elongate, about 4 times as long aswide. Dorsal

with bluish greenmetallic lustre; ventralsurfacebluish green with metallic lustre.
Mouthpartdarkbrownexcept for labrum;antennaedarkbrown,2ndsegmentand
baseof3rdsegmentpale;legsalsodarkbrown,sometimeswithgreenishlustre.Dorsal
surfaceofbodyalmosthairless;ventralsurfacesparselycoveredwithpalehairs;mouth

Headnearlyrhombic,slightlynarrower thanpronotum;discverystronglyand
coarsely punctate, but usually narrowly impunctatebehindmiddle; interspaces of
punctures almost smooth; antennal insertionsdistinctly raised, without punctures;
frontoclypea1furrowsomewhatwidelyandweaklyarcuate. Clypeusabout 2.5times
aswideaslong,sparselypunctate,anteriormarginwidelyandveryweaklyarcuate.
Labrum about 175-1.9 timesaswideas long, rathersparselywith finepunctures,
anterior margin arcuate. Antennaeslender, about a half as long as body length;
terminalsegmentalittlelongerthan3precedingsegmentscombinedandabout l3
timesaslongasthedistancebetweeneyes,surfacefrosted.Relativelengthsofantennal
segments frombasal toapical: 0.55,0.5,1.0,1.0,1.0,1.0,1.0, 1.0, 0.95,0.9, 3.0.
Terminalsegmentofmaxillarypalpuscultrate,about18-1.9timesaslongaswide;
innercorner rectangular.
Pronotum subcylindrica1, widest at base,as wideasmedian length, distinctly
narrowed anteriad, swollen in middle, with anterior margin narrowly carinate-

Elytrasubpara11e1,about2.6-2.8timesaslongaswide,andabout4.8-4.9times
aslongaspronotum;discverystronglyandcloselypunctate,thoughsparselypunctate
alongsuture; punctureson elytral disc larger than those on pronota1disc, often
confluent transverselyand formingarugosestructure.
Legsslender; hind femur about 13-1.4 timesas longaselytra1width; basal

greenwithmetalliclustre,sometimeswithcopperylustre;mouthpartsdarkyellowish
brownexcept for labrum;apicalpartof terminalsegmentofmaxillarypalpusdark
brown;antennaeyellowishbrown,gradually becomingdarker apicad; legsalmost
yellowishbrownexcept for coxae.Variationofbodycolour aswillbenoted later.
Dorsalsurfaceofbodyalmosthairless;ventralsurfaceofbody,mouthparts,legsand
antennacoveredwithpalehairs.
Headnearly rhombic,slightlynarrower thanpronotum; disc verystronglyand
coarsely punctate; antennal insertionsdistinctly raised, withoutpunctures; fronto-
clypea1 furrowdeeplyand weaklyarcuate. Clypeusabout 2.5-2.8 timesaswideas
long,sparsely punctate, anteriormarginwidely and veryweakly arcuate. Labrum

Elytrasubpara11e1-sided,about 2.7-2.8timesaslongaswide, andabout 5.0-5.2

along suture, the punctures somewhat cone-shaped, confluent transversely and

constrictionat base, the tipsbeing unitedwitheach other, curveddownwardsand

somefriendsofhis,andatthatnight,mightbetoodrunkonwine.Thecerambycidwasshattered
byhishandbecausehefailedtoseeitclearlyandthought itasattyoracockroach.After
that, thedamagedspecimeninquestionwassubmittedtomeforidentification.Atasight,it
wasdeterminedas Hy1otrupesbajulus (LINNE, 1758), which iswidespread in thePalearctic
andpartofNorthAmerica.Thecollectingdataareasfollows:1(j',Terada-machi (indoor),

Hy1otrupesbaf'tdushasso farbeenunknown fromoff thecontinentalsideof Asia; i.e.,
Siberia,Shanghai,andsoon.Thelarvaofthespeciesisawellknownboreroflumberandhas
strongtolerancefordriedcondition.Thespecimenpresentlyexaminedismostprobablyderived
fromthenorthernEuropemadefurnitureathishome.
