A Letter From the Publisher...
Dear Friends,
I first met Max Lucado in 1990 when we worked together on The Applause
of Heaven. Even then I was struck by the power of his voice, the clarity of his writ-
ing, and the hope of his message. A lot has changed in nearly twenty-five years,
but those three things have not.
When Max began his ministry on the mission field in Brazil in the early ‘80s,
he was committed to spreading the gospel of Christ around the world. Even as he
moved to San Antonio, Texas, to serve the Oak Hills Church in 1988, his desire
never wavered to see lives across the globe changed by the Good News. Our world
has taken new shape since then through cultural conflicts, economic inconsisten-
