IATF 16949:2016 Based
on ISO 9001:2015

ISO 9001:2015 is a global Quality Management System

standard which can be applied anywhere

IATF 16949:2016 is a standard specific to Automotive

Industry which includes all the requirements of ISO
9001 + additional requirements unique to the
Automotive

Annex SL

ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 are based on

Annex SL, which is a common structure for all new and
revised standards

It means that various schemes can now be easily

integrated

Definitions

Site – location at which value-added manufacturing
processes occur

Support Function – non-production activity (conducted
on site or at a remote location) that supports one (or
more) manufacturing sites of the same organization

Remote Locations
Both sites and remote locations have to be audited


Remote locations are to be audited before the site, and

within 90 days window

Transition audits must include all support functions,

both remote and on site

CBs are required to include evidence of linkages

between supporting functions and site’s processes


requirements in IATF 16949 compared to the previous
standard revision
