Complianceratesforchronicdiseaseregimensarepoorandareestimatedtobe
approximately50%. Itappearsthatfamilyhistoryofdiseaseisalikelyexplanatory
factorthathasbeenoverlooked,asfamilyhistoryofdiseasehasrarelybeenexaminedfor
itsinfluenceonpatienthealthbeliefsandhealthbehavior. Additionally,theemergence
ofType2diabetesinethnicminorityyouthsisarecentdevelopment. Thisstudysought
togaindescriptiveinformationaboutyouthswithType2diabetesincomparisonto
youthswithType1diabetes. Additionally,thestudyalsoinvestigatedtheroleoffamily
historyonpatienthealthbehaviorandbeliefsbytestingaGeneralandDomain-Specific
Model.
