Christ College recently unveiled a multi-million pound investment programme to celebrate its 475th
Anniversary in 2016. This will include a £2m investment forYNeuadd Goffa : Memorial Hall theatre to
create a new, dramatic and multi-function space forschool events, performances and conferences, which
will also be available to the widercommunity on its completion in 2013.
At the same time, Christ College has announced that planning is underway to establish a Junior
School.
Head of Christ College Emma Taylorsaid: "Formany years Christ College has considered opening a
juniorschool, orjuniorsection. Earlierthis yearthe school commissioned some market research into the
feasibility of extending ourteaching range below the age of 11, and the enthusiastic feedback from this
research, as well as the changing nature and shape of the school overtime, has encouraged us to make a
decision in principle to go ahead and develop plans forteaching juniorforms."
She added: "We are inviting expressions of interest from prospective parents in the nearfuture and
these will help us with ourplanning."
As well as celebrating the milestone anniversary, the developments reflect the school’s charitable sta-
tus and the commitment it is making to support the local community as much as possible. Mrs Taylorsaid
that the planned investments would consolidate the position of the school as a providerof excellent all
round education and an active participant in the community of Brecon and beyond.
