Anatomy of a Hermetic Sealing Boot
The cut-a-way of the boot shown contains an integral secondary seal (Fig. 1) that provides additional protection against
differentialpressure(insideequipmentvsatmospheric)thatcompresses/sealsthetoggle-actuator.Thesecondarychamberalso
createsasecond-barriershouldthetophalfbebreachedorcompromisedinanyway.AllHEXSEALSandE-SEELSalsofeature
ourpatentedflangesealingribtopreventleakagefromseepingpastthemountinghole.
Twomountingmethodsareoffered.Ourstandardbondednickel-platedbrassmounting-nutwhichreplacestheswitchesoriginal
exteriormounting-nut(whichisdiscarded)andanoptionalmethodthatusesabondedaluminumIQConcentro-Nut™thatfitsover
the original switch exterior mounting nut. The Concentro-Nut option is ideal for maintenance servicing applications where
minimumswitchdisturbanceisdesirable.
Theswitchmountingholesonhermeticallysealedswitchesalsoneedenvironmentalpanelprotectionfrompossiblecontaminant
seepage,i.e.,moisture,dust,spilledcokeandcoffee,etc.Forthisreason,APMhasdevelopedabondedsiliconerubber-stainless
steelswitchbushingseal.Thisspecialseal,specificallydesignedforhermeticallysealedswitches,issuperiortoordinaryO-rings
