The Grand First Principal announced that all Royal Arch Masons in good standing and
properlyvouchedfor,wouldnowbewelcomed.AfteradmittingallCompanions,theGrand
First Principal welcomed all present at the One Hundred and Forty-sixth Annual
Convocation.
The Grand First Principal then appointed R.Ex.Comps. Norman E Byrne and David E
Jacklin as Parliamentariansfortheduration ofthisConvocation.
TheGrandFirstPrincipalthenadvisedallpresentthatthematterrelatingtothe legal claim
against Grand Chapter reported last year remains sub juris and will not under any
circumstancesbeamatterofdiscussion atthisConvocation.

Second and Grand Third Principals. Grand Honours were accorded the guests led by the
Grand DirectorofCeremonies.
MostWorshipfulBrotherDonaldHMumby,theGrandMasterofTheGrandLodgeAncient
Free& Accepted MasonsofCanada, intheProvinceofOntario, waspresented in the West
wherehewasformally andwarmly received by M.Ex.Comp. Boomhour. FollowingGrand
Honourshewasescorted tohisseaton thediasby theGrand FirstPrincipal.

Volumesofthe Sacred Lawpointoutthepath wearetofollow, the landmarksshowingus
the way. Ancient Free and Accepted Masons ofcourse you are familiar with the idea of
Landmarks. I would suggest to you that one ofthe symbolic landmarks for Royal Arch
Masonsisthekeystone. Itfiguressoprominentlyinourthreedegrees. Isometimeswonder
ifwereallyappreciatethesignificanceofthekeystoneinoperativemasonry.Thekeystone
was something thatwas vital in the construction ofany kind ofarch ordome. An arch is
totally dependent on it because the keystone had to be cut precisely to exert the same
pressure outward as the arch pressed inward creating equilibrium. Ifthis did not happen,
then thearch would eventually push the keystone out and collapseorthe keystone would
pushthearchapartandfallthroughtothegroundgivingasimilarresult.Onecouldwonder
howoftentheancientcraftmasonsplayedwithkeystonesuntiltherightcutwasdiscovered.
Thekeystonecanbecomearichsymbol inRoyalArchMasonry,notjustapartofourritual.
GrandChaptercanbeseenasakeystonebindingthewholearchtogether. Wecouldsaythat
theGrand FirstPrincipal and hisGrand Council form thesame function within the Grand
Chapter and so it goes on down to the lowest ranks. Today we commemorate those
companionswhoarenolongerwithusthroughdeath. WemournthelossofMostExcellent
CompanionsAubeWeismanandAlbertMortlock,PastGrandFirstPrincipalsofthisGrand
Chapter.
