Preface
This Edited Volume containsa selection of refereed and revised papers originally
presented at the International Symposium on Signal Processing and Intelligent
RecognitionSystems(SIRS-2014),March13–15,2014,Trivandrum,India.SIRS-
2014 provided a forum for the sharing, exchange, presentation and discussion of
originalresearchresultsinbothmethodologicalissuesanddifferentapplicationar-
easofsignalprocessingandpatternrecognition.
Creditforthequalityofthesymposiumproceedingsgoesfirstandforemosttothe
authors.Theycontributedagreatdealofeffortandcreativitytoproducethiswork,
andwe areverythankfulthattheychoseSIRS-2014astheplaceto presentit. All
the authorswho submitted papers, both accepted and rejected, are responsible for
keepingtheSIRSprogramvital.Theprogramcommitteereceived134submissions
from11countries:India,UnitedKingdom,Iran,SaudiArabia,Macao,Kazakhstan,
Algeria, Egypt, France and USA. The programcommittee had a verychallenging
taskofchoosinghighqualitysubmissions.Eachpaperwaspeerre-viewedbyatleast
threeormoreindependentrefereesoftheprogramcommitteeandthepaperswere
selectedbasedontherefereerecommendations.ThetechnicalprogramofSIRS’14
comprisesof52papersincluding6shortpapers.Theselectedpapersofferstimulat-
inginsightsintosignalprocessingandintelligentrecognitionsystems.
The success of such an eventis mainlydue to the hard work and dedicationof
anumberofpeopleandthecollaborationofseveralinstitutions.Wearegratefulto
themembersoftheprogramcommitteeforreviewingandselectingpapersinavery
shortperiodoftime.ManythankstoalltheChairsandtheirinvolvementandsupport
haveaddedgreatlyto the qualityof thesymposium.We also wish tothankallthe
