Abstract TwoC111orophorusspeciesfromMuko-jimaIslandof theOgasawara
Islands are revised. Chto・,optic,・us masatakat and C ktlsama1 are illustrated and
redescribedbasedon theholotypeandadditionalspecimens.
IntroductoryReview
Ch1orophorus kusamai wasdescribedon thebasisof themaleholotypespecimen
collectedfromMuko-jimaIslandof theOgasawaraIslandsonMay22,1974,andwas
suggestedintheoriginaldescription(SAT0,1999)asarelativeofC kobayashiiKOMIYA
fromtheChichi-jimaandHaha-jimagroupsof thesameislands.Several yearsafter
SAT0's description, NIIsATo and KARUBE (2000, 2002), additionally recorded C
kusamai on the basis of a series of specimens collectedby recent field survey of
Muko-jimaIsland,andredescribedandillustrateditshabitusandmalegenitalorganin
comparisonwithC kobayashii. TheyalsorecordedCbonlnensisKANOfromthesame
islandandsuggestedthepeculiaritiesin thepalebrownpubescentbodywith reduced
blackmaculationon thepronotumandelytra.
Misarrangement wasclearedby reexaminationof themalegenital organof C
kusamai. Duringthestudyof theCh1or〔)phorusspeciesfromtheOgasawaraIslands,
KARUBEfoundout thedifferenceinmalegenitalorganbetween“C kusama1”athand

illustration seems to show acloser relationship to thoseof C boninensls. It is most
probablethatC kusamatisnotaspeciesrelatedtoC kobayashiiaswassuggestedinthe
