Abstract A new speciesof theelateridgenusDentlco11oldesGURJEvA, 1963,
hitherto unrecorded from Japan, isdescribed fromHokkaido, Japan. This interesting
species,namedD hosokawat,belongstothesubfamilyDendrometrinae.
ThegenusDentico11oidesGURJEvA,1963wasestablishedonthebasisofDenti-
co11ozdesparadox::usGuRJE、IA,1963,andfivespeciesbelongingtothisgenushavehith-
ertobeenknown fromCentral Asia.
ThroughthecourtesyofMr.KojiHosoKAwA, Ihadanopportunitytoexaminea
seriesofelateridspecimensinhiscollection.Afteracarefulexamination,Ihavefound
thatanewspeciesbelongingtothegenusDentico11oidesiscontainedinlt.Inthepres-
entpaper,IamgoingtodescribeitunderthenameoftheDentlco11oideshosokawa1sp
nov.
Beforegoingfurther,IwishtoexpressmysinceregratitudetoDr.HitooOHIRAof
Okazaki forhisconstantguidanceandtoDr.Shun-lobiUENooftheNationalScience

Headandpronotumclothedwithratherlong,subrecumbentandwhitishyellow
pubescenceexceptforelytraandventralsurfaceswithrathershort,recumbentandPale
yellowpubescence.
Head subquadrate,with frons triangularly impressedbetween eyes, unevenly,
coarsely and denselypunctate,eachpunctureseeminglyumbilical;clypealmargin
ratherprominent,roundedandshallowlyimpressedatthemiddle,butstronglyridged
overantennalinsertions;apicalsegmentofeachmaxillarypalpushatchet-likeinshape
andabout17timesaslongasitslargestwidth; labrumtransverselyovate,slightly
convex inthemiddle,withsurfacecoarselypunctate; fronto-clypealareatransverse,
broadandsomewhatnarrowedat themiddle.Eyessemicircularandprominentout-
wards.Antennaelongateandbarelyreachingposteriorangleofpronotum;basalseg-
mentrobustandsubovate;thesecondshort,subconica1andabout0.8timesaslongas
itslargestwidth;thethirdelongatetriangular,about3.5timesaslongasthesecond
andaslongasthefourth;thethirdtotenthnormallyserrate;apicalmostsubovateand
about3timesaslongasitslargestwidth.
Pronotumalmostquadrate,aslongasbasalwidth,withsidesclearlysinuatejust
beforeposteriorangles,almostparallelatthemiddle, then feeblyarcuateandclearly
convergenttowardsanteriorangles;discgentlyconvex,withamedianlongitudinal im-
pression feeblyseen in themiddle;surfaceunevenly,coarsely, denselyandumbili-
catelypunctate,thepuncturesbecomingslightlysmaller lateradandposteriad;poste-

Elytraabout3.l timesas longas itsbasalwidth,withsides almostparallel in
basal two-thirds,thenroundedandgraduallyconvergenttowardsapices;striaedefined,
coarsely andunevenly punctate; intervalsslightly elevated, shallowly punctateand
transverselyrugose.

Legsslender,eachapical endofsecond to fourth tarsalsegmentsslightlyex-
pandedbeneath,thoughthefourthismoreclearlyexpandedthanthesecondandthird;
clawssimple.
Propleuracoarselyandumbilicatelypunctateineachapicalthree-fourths,butthe
puncturesaresmallerandsparserthanthoseofpronota1disc.Prosternumwithapair
ofnodulesatthesidesofapical fourthalongprostero-pleuralsuture;surfacecoarsely
andumbilicatelypunctate, thepuncturessmallerandsparserthanthoseofpropleura.
Presternal process weakly incurved between procoxae, then straightly projecting
apicadandobtuselypointedatapex.
Maleunknown.
Holotype:1e,Mitsumata,Kamishihoro-cho,Katou-gun,Hokkaido,1-VII-i983,
K.HOSOKAWAleg.
Notes. This new species is allied to Dentico11oidessinensis DoLIN et CATE,
1999, fromtheEastTianShanMountains innorthwesternChina,butcanbedistin-
guished fromthelatterbythe followingpoints:1)Thebodyislarger2)Thesidesof
pronotumaresinuatejustbeforetheposteriorangles 3)Posterioranglesoftheprono-
tumobtuselypointedapicad.

有本ク、.之:北海道から発見されたキタベニコメツキ属の1新種. - キタベニコメツキ属
Dentlco11otdesの種は, DoLIN&CATE(1999)の研究によれば, 中央アジアから5種が記録されて
いる. 今回, 北海道で発見されたDent,co11oides属の1種を新種と認め, キタクロベニコメツキ
Dentico11oideshosokawaiと命名して記載した. これは日本から最初の属である. 本種はDent1-
co11oldessine,1stsDoLINetCATE,1999に似てぃるが, より大型, 前胸背板の両側は後角直前で顕
著に狭まり, 後角の先端は鋭く尖らないことなどにより識別できる. 雄は未発見である.
