A Critical Checldist of the Ants of Mongolia (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)

Abstract. Here we present a critical species list ofthe ants ofMongolia, that is based on current literature, previously
unpublishedtaxonomicchanges,theunpublishedrecordsofthezoologicalexpeditionsofJapanese-MongolianandGer-
man-Mongolianteamsintheyears 1997, 1999and2003 andtheresultsofa fouryearPolish-German-Mongoliancoope-
ration. We reporton 68 speciesof17 generaofants thathavebeen found within Mongolia: Cainponotiis, Caidiocondy-

RESULTS

Due to taxonomic changes and to our critical evaluation
The resulting list ofthe Mongolian fauna comprises 68 ofthe species lists that have been previously published,
