4.9.2 Selected Sampling Stations
The locations for Ambient Air Quality Monitoring were decided based on the guidelines given in the
EIA manual prepared by MoEF. For this EIA, the purpose is to ascertain the baseline pollutant
concentrations in ambient air. Accordingly, the criterion was selected to ascertain quality of air at
important human settlements (residential areas). Locations selected for ambient air quality monitoring
are presented in Table 4-8. Photographs of sampling stations is shown in Photograph 4-2.

4.9.3 Sampling Frequency
The frequency of monitoring was 24 hrs twice a week at each station spread over the post monsoon
season, with gaseous samples being changed six times (at 8-hour intervals).
4.9.4 Parameters Monitored and Methods Used
The parameters monitored were PM , Sulphur Dioxide (SO ), Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), Hydrocarbons

(Methane and Non methane) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). These parameters have been
selected based on the guidelines given by the MoEF. The detailed monitoring methodology for ambient
air is given in Table 4-9.

A comparison of the above results with the value range indicators provided by CPCB
 The 98th percentile concentration of PM10 recorded at 08 locations ranged from 82 µg/m3
(Nandan Village) to 114 µg/m3 (Agol Village). All these values are within the specified limit of
PM10 given by CPCB (100 µg/m3) except at Bavalu, Agol and Della villages.
 The 98th percentile concentration of SO2 recorded at 08 locations ranged from 1.1 (Sonvad
Village) to 11.1 µg/m3 (Nandan Villages). All these values are within the specified limit of CPCB
(80 µg/m3).
 The 98th percentile concentration of NOX recorded at 08 locations ranged from 13.8 µg/m3
(Amnagar Village) to 23.9 µg/m3 (Nandan Villages). All these values are within the specified limit
of CPCB (80 µg/m3).

 The 98th percentile concentration of NMHC recorded at 08 locations ranged from 28 µg/m3
(Sonvad Village) to 16 µg/m3 (Amnagar Villages). All these values are within the specified limit of
CPCB.
 The 98th percentile concentration of HC as CH4 recorded at 08 locations ranged from 1815 µg/m3
(Agol Village) to 1199 µg/m3 (Della Villages). All these values are within the specified limit of
CPCB
 The 98th percentile concentration of VOC recorded at 08 locations are less than 1 ppm.

4.10 Noise
4.10.1 Monitoring Methodology of Noise Levels
Methodology for monitoring of noise levels is given in Table 4-11.

4.10.2 Selection of monitoring Locations
Locations for noise monitoring were selected by doing preliminary analysis using Sound Plan Essential
3.0 software. The drilling locations were plotted on Google and based on the Sound Plan analysis
location for monitoring was selected. The considerations taken while performing noise modeling is as
given below in Table 4-12.

Noise readings were taken at 7 different locations within the study area. The average noise levels are
presented in Table 4-14.

 Noise level during day time was observed in range of 43.59 dBA (Andej Village) to 61.02
(Dodar Village).
 Night time Noise level was in range of 28.82 dBA (Agol Village) to 45.10 dBA (Rampura
Village).
4.11 Water
4.11.1 Hydrology, Groundwater & Water Conservation
The methodology adopted for the study of baseline environment started with secondary data
collection followed by desk study. Secondary data like recent Google imageries, District Resource
Map, information published by GSI studies to collect basic information of geology, hydrogeology,
identification of Topography and Structural features of site and surrounding area, water level
information etc.
A field visit conducted to study site specific geological and hydrogeological condition includes lithology,
structural features, drainage patterns, water bodies, ground water condition and any possible impact
to the environmental setting due to project.

Sample was collected from 13 locations to find ground water quality within study area. Sampling
