Pre-Bid Meeting Notes

1. The Pre-Bid meeting held on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 was not mandatory.

2. The specs included in this addendum will be your reference for material descriptions and
approved manufacturers.

3. All Material is to be bulk packaged and needs to be clearly marked by school. ALL SCHOOLS
MUST BE BID

4. Bidders must have and provide their E-Rate SPIN (Service Provider Identification Number). To
apply for an E-Rate SPIN please visit http://www.universalservice.org/fund-
administration/forms/

5. If you wish to bid a manufacturer that is not included as an approved manufacturer. You must
submit data spec sheets to Richard L Johnson for approval a minimum of 2-weeks prior to the
bid opening on March 2, 2012 at 10:30 AM.

6. All cable to be Blue and jacks to be Off-White or Ivory

7. Bids are due March 2nd. Faxed bids will be rejected as non responsive. Each bidder will provide
a Bid bond, certified check, or bank draft in the amount of 5% of total bid.

SECTION 01200
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
PART 1. GENERAL
1.01 CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITIES
A. The Contractor and all Subcontractors shall notify the Owner's
Representative prior to beginning and ending work each day.
B. Provide shop drawings of all fabricated items.
C. The General Contractor shall provide fences, barricades, guard lights, etc. as
required to protect persons and property from injury in conjunction with this
contract work.
D. Protect existing work - repair damage to this contract work at no cost to
Owner. Water damage to building, including the interior, caused by
Contractor's failure to properly protect the work, shall be the responsibility of
the Contractor to correct.
E. Protect existing trees, shrubs, lawns, etc.
F. Remove rubbish and debris daily.
G. Remove excess materials and construction equipment from the site upon
completion.
H. Contractor is to guarantee all work for a period of one year after final
acceptance.
1. Provide all items, articles, materials, operations, or methods listed,
mentioned, or scheduled on the drawings and/or herein, including all
equipment, and incidentals necessary and required pertaining to the work of
this contract.
1.02 USE OF FACILITIES
A. Construction personnel will be allowed to use toilet facilities in existing
building as designated by the Architect.

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
B. Confine parking, equipment and materials to areas on the site as directed
by the Architect.
C. The Contractor shall provide temporary electricity as required for the work
by extending proper feeders, switches, etc. from the Owner's existing system.
Current available at no cost to Contractor. Do not connect any equipment
requiring more than 110 V to Owner's system.
D. Temporary water service required for the work will be available from
Owner's existing system as directed by Owner. Owner will pay cost of
water used.
1.03 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit necessary shop drawings, product data and samples.

DIVISION 1 – GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
SECTION 01300
SUBMITTALS
1. GENERAL
A. Contractor shall:
1. Review each submittal.
a. Verify field dimensions.
b. Verify compliance with Contract requirements.
2. Stamp submittals, certifying his review.
3. Transmit reviewed submittals to Architect by way of the agreed transmittal
form.
B. Within 30 days of notice to commence work, Contractor shall submit a list of all
materials requiring Architect’s color selection. The list shall include manufacturer’s
name and model number of each and every item.
C. Contractor should allow 2 weeks for Architect’s review of most submissions. The
Architect reserves the right to withhold action on a submittal that requires
coordination with other submittals, until all of the related submittals are submitted.
No extension of time to perform the Contract will be authorized because of
Contractor’s failure to make submissions to Architect in time for the Architect to
execute a thorough review.
2. SUBMITTALS SPECIFIED IN THE CONDITIONS OF CONTRACT
A. The Contractor shall submit all of the items required to be submitted under the
Conditions of Contract, as supplemented, including, but not necessarily limited to:
1. Certificates of Insurance.
2. Performance Bond and Payment Bond.
3. List of Manufacturers or Materials.
4. Schedule of Values.
5. Construction Schedules.
6. Name of safety officer (if not superintendent).
7. Certificates of Testing and Testing Schedule.
8. Written Notice for Final Review of Punch List Items.
9. Final Waivers.

3. SHOP DRAWINGS AND PRODUCT DATA
A. Shop Drawings of all fabricated work shall be prepared by the fabricator and
submitted through the Contractor to the Architect for review. All Shop Drawings
shall bear verification of Contractor’s review and approval prior to submittal. No
work shall be fabricated by order of the Contractor, save at his own risk, until
review of Shop Drawings has been completed by Architect.
B. Shop Drawings: Submit 2 blackline prints for Owner and Architect’s use plus
number of copies required to be returned to the Contractor, unless specified
otherwise, prepared by fabricator and submitted through Contractor to Architect for
review. Shop Drawings shall bear verification of Contractor’s review and approval
prior to submittal.
C. Product Data, such as catalog cuts and brochures, submitted to the Architect for
review shall include a minimum of 8 copies of each item to be reviewed, unless
otherwise specified.
D. MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) submitted with Product Data will be
considered as product information only and will not be accepted by the Architect as
being part of the MSDS submittal requirements specified below.
E. Corrections or changes indicated on Shop Drawings and Product Data shall not be
considered as an order for extra work.
F. No Shop Drawing or Product Data will be considered reviewed unless it bears
stamp and signature of Architect.
4. SAMPLES
A. Contractor shall furnish for review, with reasonable promptness, all Samples as
directed by the Architect. The Architect will check and review such Samples, with
reasonable promptness, only for conformance with the design concept of the
Project and for compliance with the information given in the Contract Documents.
B. Samples shall include transmittal letter requesting Sample review. All Samples
forwarded shall have transportation charges to Architect’s office prepaid.
C. No material shall be ordered until receiving written confirmation that Sample
submitted was reviewed by Architect for design conformance. The work shall be in
accordance with Samples approved for design concept conformance.
5. MANUFACTURER’S INSTRUCTIONS
A. Wherever the Contract Documents call for work to be performed, or materials to be
installed in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions or directions, each
installing contractor shall furnish 3 copies of the manufacturer’s printed instructions
or directions to Architect at least 5 days before installing materials or performing
work.

6. OPERATION & MAINTENANCE (O&M) MANUALS
A. At termination of work, the Contractor and each major Subcontractor, as it applies
to his work, shall submit 3 copies of an operation and maintenance manual
presenting full details of care, maintenance and operation of mechanical equipment
and other operable equipment of every nature. Manuals shall include such things
as:
1. Manufacturer’s instructions for care.
2. Spare parts lists and sources of supply.
3. Wiring diagrams.
4. Control diagrams, etc.
B. The O&M manuals shall be compiled into hard covered 3–ring binders and
submitted by the Contractor to the Architect, who will submit them to the Owner.
7. MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS
A. Should any material be installed in the Work for which a Material Safety and Data
Sheet (MSDS) is required to be retained by the Owner under State regulations, the
installing subcontractor shall submit the applicable MSDS forms to the Contractor
for submission to the Owner upon completion of the Project.
B. 3 MSDS forms shall be submitted for each item. Only official OSHA MSDS forms
shall be used; copies will not be accepted.
C. The Contractor shall compile the forms and bind them into separate hard covered
3–ring binders that shall be submitted directly to the Owner. A copy of the
Contractor’s transmittal letter shall be submitted to the Architect.
8. GUARANTEES AND WARRANTIES
A. The Contractor shall compile 3 copies of all guarantees and warranties and bind
them into a separate set of hard covered 3–ring binders that shall be submitted to
the Architect, who will then transmit them to the Owner.
9. GUARANTEES AND WARRANTIES
A. At completion of work and prior to final payment, Contractor shall provide the
Architect with complete, accurate, clean and legible record drawings made from a
complete set of marked up Contract Drawings kept at the site, showing changes
made to the Work during the course of the Contract.
B. Submit 1 complete blackline set (for the Owner’s use) made from all of the Contract
Drawings.
C. Contractor shall verify completeness of record drawings before submission.

SECTION 07900
JOINT SEALANTS
1. GENERAL
1.01. SUMMARY
A. Work Included In This Section Features:
1. Sealing of all conduit, cable, cable tray and similar penetrations through all
non-fire-rated floors, walls and partitions.
B. Related Work Specified In Other Sections:
1. Firestopping sealant work ........................................................ Section 07840.
2. Caulking touchup by painters .................................................. Section 09900.
1.02. QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Compatibility: Before purchasing any sealant specified, investigate its compatibility
with the joint surfaces, joint fillers and other materials in the joint system. Provide
only materials that are known to be fully compatible with the actual installation
condition, as affirmed by manufacturer’s published data or certification.
B. Deliver materials to job site in sealed containers with manufacturer’s original label
attached, one brand for each type of sealant.
C. Applicators: Sealants shall be applied in accordance with manufacturer’s
instructions by skilled applicators trained in accordance with the Sealant,
Waterproofing, and Restoration Institute’s (SWRI) “Applicator Training Manual.”
D. Scheduling: Apply exterior sealants before any water repellent finishes are applied.
Apply interior paintable sealants before conventional paints (i.e. non-epoxy paints)
are applied.
1.03 SUBMITTALS
E. Samples: Submit samples of each sealant color for Architect’s selection. If
requested, prepare a mock-up installation of each major type and use of sealant,
installing sealant between materials matching those to be used on project.
F. Manufacturer’s Literature: Submit 4 copies of manufacturer’s specifications,
recommendations and installation instructions for each type of sealant and
associated miscellaneous material required.
