Holding seminars and conferences is the function of the Train
ing Division of the Institute and we are grateful that the proposal
to hold the seminar on 'Women and Crime' was considered a
valuable enterprise. We thank the contributors to this volume
and the participants in the seminar whose comments have only
improved the quality of the papers.

and present heads of the Publications Section respectively, have
