Introduction from the Headmaster
The Dalai Lama once said:
“I have always had this view about the modern education
system: we pay attention to brain development, but
the development of warm heartedness we take for
granted.”
A major focus at Malvern College Egypt this year has
been to not only provide the best academic learning
and teaching, but also to develop in our students a love
of life, a sense of responsibility and honesty, and of care
for their peers. We have stressed the need to respect others and respect for
oneself. As a result, MCE has developed a special atmosphere. Each individual is
known and cared for and, in turn, the students care for and support each other.
The entire community can feel proud of our efforts. Most of our students are
happy, inquisitive, fun people to be with due to the genuine partnership we
have with parents who are interested and committed to their children’s wellbeing,
and due to the tremendous professionalism of our staff. As a College, we have
come a long way and some of our students have arguably travelled even further.
On behalf of our community, as Headmaster and as a parent, I would like to offer my
sincere thanks to all our hard working staff who have helped make this journey
possible.
Schooldays should be about having fun, enjoying the challenge of learning
and creating memories that will last a lifetime. This Yearbook is a collection of
achievements and memories that have happened across the College, throughout
the year. As you flick through its pages, your eyes will be subjected to a riot
of colour and a flood of memories. You will find yourself smiling as you look
back at what has been a special first year for MCE. Treasure these memories, for
in the future when you want to transport yourself back in time just open the
pages of this book and like Dumbledore’s pensieve, allow yourself to drift into
your past.

administration team, who have exerted their absolute best l

to make our founding year a great success. Together we have C
experienced wonderful moments as well as some trying
times. However, all these experiences have made us stronger
and brought us closer together as a family.

I also have to thank the Azazy Group for all the support given
to us which in turn helped us achieve the outstanding level
of care towards students enrolled at MCE.

I would also like to extend a special thanks to our parents for their continuous positive
involvement throughout the year. I am confident in saying that I believe we were able to
establish a positive model for other educational institutions to follow.

Together, we started our journey at MCE in pursuit of excellence and it has been a wonderful
experience, one that will be cherished by all of us, especially by myself. To have witnessed
and been a part of the birth of this wonderful institution and to have seen the progress
students have made due to the excellent and professional work of our teaching staff, fills
me with tremendous pride. I look forward to seeing similar levels of overall improvement
during the next academic year.

We passionately believe in everything MCE stands for and its promise to be a trendsetter
in the field of education. A high quality education is one of the greatest gifts parents can
give their children. The next generation needs an exceptional quality of education to be
able to face the ever changing dynamic world they live in.
At MCE, we pledge to live up to the expectations of our stakeholders.
For now, I wish you a wonderful summer break filled with joy, happiness and love as well

It is a great privilege to be the inaugural Head of the
Primary School at Malvern College Egypt. To see
a vision come to life is immensely satisfying having
spent August 2015-August 2016 planning, recruiting
both students and staff and ordering resources!
Tremendous progress has been made over the year
and it really feels like an established community and
an International School. There are so many highlights
in what has been a busy year and by recording them
pictorially through photographs it gives you a flavour
of some of the memories that we have created together in our first year.

There are so many occasions that spring to mind which bring a smile to my
face whether it is the dressing up Charity Days, Christmas boxes, Malvern’s
Got Talent, Book Week, the Christmas Concert, the plethora of educational
trips, football and swimming competitions, Sports Days, Celebration
Assemblies and Stars of the Week, Friends of Malvern Events like the
Cocktail Party and Quiz Nights, International Day and the huge choice of
Co- Curricular Activities.

We will continue to go from strength to strength in the coming years as we
have an outstanding staff, delightful students and wonderfully supportive
parents. I hope that you enjoy our first Yearbook.

Message from Head of Early Years
Each day, since I arrived in Cairo, has been challenging,
joyful and rewarding. Getting to know you, our lovely
families, and your delightful children has been a pleasure.
Working with Mr Kittermaster alongside the creative
and professional team of teachers within Primary and
Early Years has been gratifying. Each day, your children
benefit from an extremely high standard of education,
closely linked to the Malvern College UK values.
The Early Years teaching team at Malvern College Egypt
provide a safe, secure, happy and fun introduction to learning. Our approach
puts your child at the centre of their learning with opportunities that are
cross-curricular and meaningful. We encourage an interest in learning through
an inquiry-based approach that engages each child in topics in which they have
shown an interest. Your children learn how to listen to others, to communicate
their ideas effectively, to solve problems and to develop resilience by persisting
with tasks they may find challenging.
We recognise and celebrate each child as a unique individual who will develop
at their own speed in their own way. For us the partnership between home and

school is crucially important so that we can support every child. The relationship
you have with your child’s class teacher, co-teacher, class nanny and with me will
ensure your child receives the best possible educational experience.
We are creating a learning environment, both indoor and out that provides a
stimulus for your child. Our outdoor play spaces enable development of their
gross motor skills as well cultivating their curiosity. The variety of educational

a wonderful year together
developing new skills and forming
special friendships.
We have learned all about ourselves, people
in the community who help us, we’ve had
fun with pets and jungle animals. We made
ice and had a blast learning all about the
beach and summer holidays.
One of the highlights was our fun
filled beach day.

It has
been a wonderful
first year in Pre-Nursery A where
we have enjoyed various topics such as
Christmas concert, jungle and farm animals
and a day at the sea side.
We enjoyed getting to know each other, we had
lots of lovely moments listening to funny stories. We
enjoyed many events together International Day,
Christmas party, Dress-Up Day, The book week where
the pre-nursery were assisted by the other pupils from
secondary reading for them which was a great
experience for us all.
We were extremely happy at the library. We had many
exciting moments reading wonderful books.

Our Caterpillars in Nursery M have had an unforgettable year…
We enjoyed getting to know each other, becoming a family and
growing to become independent and responsible. Time flies and
it seems like only yesterday our innocent little ones came in on
their first day of Nursery. We had plenty of moments to remember
including seeing our students having full conversations in English,
retelling our favourite stories and being able to confidently present
themselves during “Show and Tell” in front of the whole class. Our
Caterpillars have also developed critical thinking skills and love to
solve problems and mysteries in our little classroom.
We learnt about making healthy choices during our healthy
eating topic and practised making healthy food, brushing our
teeth and doing laundry in the classroom. We planted beans and
grew Magic Beanstalks just like “Jack”, and made our own fish and
explored the deep sea with “The Rainbow Fish”. It was lovely to
welcome all the Mums and Dads to our Christmas, International
and Sports Day events. We had an exciting trip this year in which
we enjoyed living the Grown-Up Life in “Kidzania”.
We have had a blast watching you grow and change this year. You
have inspired us as teachers and showed us love like never
before. Keep reading, creating and
exploring. We are really going to miss
our once little – now BIG Caterpillars.
