The importance of the symptom pattern
The principle of “like cures like” is best illustrated by an example. The
homeopathic remedy Belladonna (see page 104) is prepared from a
plant in the potato family found throughout Europe, called deadly
nightshade. This is a tall, bushy herb with dark green leaves and long,
purple, bell-shaped flowers. It favours chalky soils and grows well in
hedgerows, woodlands, and thickets.
Deadly nightshade has large, glossy, seductive-looking black berries.
Country people warn their children never to touch them. For the whole
deadly nightshade plant is poisonous, and the berries are especially so.
If a person eats just one or two berries, he or she would suddenly
