Quindi, per questa volta, rinuncio al discorsetto introduttivo: sapete benissimo cosa ci si può attendere quando c'è di mezzo il duo Gallegher-Joe, con l'aggiunta di un suscettibile nonnetto arrivato dal Maine. Piuttosto, diamo insieme un'occhiata al programma dei prossimi mesi, che si presenta decisamente appetitoso. Per accontentare i lettori di Galaxy, che da tempo ci chiedono con insistenza di pubblicare qualcosa di Poul Anderson, nel mese di luglio Galassia presenterà un suo romanzo, Le navi di Ganimede, che appartiene al giovane, robusto filone di quella che si potrebbe chiamare science-fiction realistica e che è senza dubbio uno dei migliori di questo quotatissimo scrittore. Nel mese di agosto uscirà invece un romanzo di impostazione e di tono completamente diverso, ma egualmente interessante, Waldo, o dell'impossibile, di Robert A. Heinlein, un altro tra i più popolari autori della fantascienza mondiale. Il tutto, naturalmente, con il solito contorno di racconti di Sheckley. A settembre uscirà un altro romanzo di Anderson, questo dal tema decisamente classico-avventuroso.A questo punto, cari amici, vi rivolgo un cordiale arrivederci. E' probabile che per un paio di mesi non sia più io a tenervi la solita chiacchieratina iniziale. Infatti, sarò occupatissima a portare a termine, insieme ad Andrea Canal, e per conto d'una giovane casa editrice specializzata in opere di alta cultura, una antologia critica della fantascienza americana, che promette molto bene, anche perchè siamo riusciti a mettere le mani su materiale di primissimo ordine. Ad ogni modo, l'incarico di presentarvi volta per volta i romanzi di Galassia, nella mia eventuale assenza verrà affidato in buone mani, dal momento che se ne occuperà Claudio Marin, una vostra vecchia conoscenza ripescato in mezzo ai suoi prediletti microscopi elettronici ed ultramicrotomi ed arruolato di nuovo, d'autorità, nelle file della fantascienza attiva.
