Thereisnowagrowingemphasisonevidence-basedpracticeandclinical

help improve the provision of culturally sensitive child and adolescent
mental health services for minority ethnic families. Not only child and
adolescent mental health professionals but also service managers and

Thechaptershavebeenwrittenbyanumberof authorswithexper-
tise in their respective fields and therefore each chapter reflects the
individual’s approach. Added value has been achieved by Mhemooda
Malek visiting a variety of services, contacting and discussing with key

ingresponsibilities,theydiscontinuedtheprojectandkilleditoffprema-

turely.Thishappenedinspiteofloudandclearfeedbacktothecontrary
from users, providers and multi-agency planners.
Inmostpartsofthecountry,however,thereisrisingawarenessofthe

agencies interested in this theme. There are also some good practices
beginning to emerge; a few of them have already been outlined in this
volume.However,thereisstillalongwaytogoandthispublicationwill
be of immense help in that journey.
