To the Reader,
I am pleased to present this publication ofelection results with
an easy to read format ofcombining primary and election results on
the same page.
In addition to the 1998 state primary and
general election results,this book contains
combined tables ofenrollment,registration,and
turnout for each community in the Common-
wealth,as well as percentage calculations for
statewide offices and statewide ballot questions.
After the primary and election,each community
sends to the Secretary ofthe Commonwealth an
official report detailing how many votes were cast for each candidate
for each office and every question on the ballot. This publication is
then prepared from these results.
Write-ins and stickervotes are consolidated and listed under"all
others". Only those candidates who won or made significant impact
are listed by name.
I'm always looking for ideas to improve the way elections are
conducted and the mannerresults are reported in Massachusetts,
including the format ofthis publication. I would be happy to have
any suggestions you may wish to offer. I hope that this volume will
be easy foryou to use.
