Kevin Hamberger, PhD, is a Professor of
Clinical Family and Community Medicine in
the Department of Family and Community
Medicine, Medical College of Wisconsin, For
the past 13V 2 years, he has conducted a pro-
gram of treatment and research for domesti-
cally violent men. For the past several years,
Dr, Hamberger's research has focused on the
characteristics of and treatment outcomes for
domestically violent offenders and the inter-
face of these variables with policy making. More recently, Dr,
Hamberger has begun exploring different gender-related contexts
and motivations for the use of violence against partners.
In addition to his clinical research work in domestic violence, he
has chaired the Kenosha Domestic Abuse Intervention Project's
coordinated community response to woman abuse. He is present-
ly Chair of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Group in
Violence Education and serves on the editorial boards of the
journal of Family Violence and the family Violence and Sexual Assault
Bulletin. He has been a guest reviewer for several other violence-
related journals, and a consultant to the National Institutes of
Mental Health. He has published over 50 articles and chapters,
and 2 books.
Claire M. Remetti, PhD, is a Professor and
Chair of Sociology at Si Joseph's University,
Philadelphia. She is also the editor of the
international, interdisciplinary journal,
Violence Against Women, and coeditor of the
Sage Book Series on Violence Against
Women. She has published 8 books and
numerous book chapters and articles primar-
ily on the topics of same-sex partner abuse,
women's use of violence, and violence
against women. Among her ongoing research projects is a study of
domestic violence in Australian Aboriginal communities.
