sense(1915a).Megopis(Aegosoma)annamensisPIc(1930)wasfound fromthesame
areaandprovedalsotobelongtothepicispecies-group.Adescriptionofthemaleof
M annamensiswillbegiven forthefirst time.IwillalsogiveashortnoteonM(A)
pjcjbasedonthematerialscollectedinthepastdecade,thoughtheydonotperfectly
accordwiththeoriginaldescription.

Amjddle-sizedspeciesofslightlydepressedandelongatedbody form. Integu-
mentchestnut_brown,eyesblack,clothedwithyellowhairsonhead,pronotumand
mostpartofventer.Femalesimilartomaleandseeminglymoredifficulttoobtain.
Headaboutaslongaswide,clothedwiththinbutdistinctyellowhairs;

Antennaeshort,about0.81timesaslongasbody;segment1thick,stronglypunc-
tured;segment3slightlyarcuate, thinner thansegment1but thicker thansegment4,
3.3timesaslongassegment1;segments2-4strongly granulate segments3and4
providedwithlongitudinal innergroovesandalsowithindistinct longitudinaldepres-
sionsontheventralside,unitedlengthofsegments4-6slightlyshorterthansegment
3; segments5-10gradually decreasing inlengthandwidth,sparsely but distinctly
granulated,eachthickenedapicad.
Pronotumclothedwithyellowhairswhicharelongerandthicker thanthoseon
head,transverse,moderatelyconvex,withbasalandapicalanglesobtuse,widestatthe
base,parallel-sidedinbasalquarter,andthenstraightly.stronglynarrowedapica api-
calwidthaboutthesameasthemaximumwidthofhead.Scutellumlingulate,finely
punctured.
Elytraglabrous,finelypuncturedandgranulatedexceptoncostae,2.36timesas
longaswide,widestataboutmiddleandgraduallynarrowedtoroundapiceswhichare
provided with very small but distinct sutural teeth; lateral margins moderately
rounded;each・discfurnishedwithfourcostae,firstandsecondinternalcostaestarting
fromhumerus,thirdandfourthstartingoneaftertheother fromalittlebeforethemid_
dieonintervalsbetweenlateralmarginandthesecondcosta, fourcostaeconverging
anddisappearingneartheapex,typicalpatternofcostaeasshowninFig.1.
Ventralsurfacesmooth, finelypunctured,withthinandrather longpubescence;
legs long,slender, finelypuncturedandpartlyminutelygranulated; tarsalsegments

Middle-sizedspecieswithcylindricalbody;verydistinctiveinhavingcompletely
edgedlateralmarginsofpronotumandinexhibitingprominentsexualdimorphism.
Male. Bodyblackishbrownwithcharcoalblackelytra.Headrobust,thinlypu-
bescent,slightly longer thanwide, roughly granulatedandpunctured, thepunctures
beingstrongeronvertex; fronto-clypea1suturedistinctlygrooved; interspacebetween
eyesaboutaslongaseacheye1obe;antennaltuberclesweaklyelevated,surroundedby
less-granulatedandshinyband.Mandiblesabout0.60timesaslongashea 1ongitudi-

Elytraglabrousexceptat theextremebaseswhicharefurnishedwithyellowish
whitehairs,finelygranulatedthroughoutexceptoncostae,about2.32timesaslongas
wide,not reachingtheapexofabdomen,widestjustafterhumeri,almoststraightly

narrowedtoapicaltwo-fifths,thenmorestronglynarrowedposteriadandcontractedly
roundedapicad,withsmallsuturalteeth,whicharesometimes lacking;eachelytron
with two distinct internal costaeand two feebleexternal costae, typical pattern of
costaeasshowninFig 3.
Ventralsurfacewithwhitishgraytomentumwhichisthickenedonprosternum,
metasternum,coxaeandtrochanters.
Legsstout; forelegsrobust,coarselygranulated;middleandhindlegsslender
andfinely granulated; tarsalsegmentsbroa withsegments3roundedapically,claw
segmentsshorterthanunitedlengthofsegments1-3.
Bodylength:26.0-32.8mm.
Female. Agreeingwith theoriginal description.Color chestnut-brown.Fore
legsandantennaenormal,notmodifiedasinmale.Notsimilar ingeneralappearance
tothemaleofthesamespecies,butsomehowsimilartothefemaleofM.plciortothe
maleofM katsu,alspnov.Headnotrobustasinmale;mandibleswithexternaldents
notsodistinct,antennaeslender,about0.70timesaslongasbody,weaklygranulated,
slightlydepressed.
Pronotumwithlateralmarginsstronglyedgedthroughout.
Elytraglabrous, finely granulateli,subpara11e1-sidedatbasal three-fourthsand
thennarrowedapicad,eachwithfourdistinctcostaewhicharestrongerthaninmale
andhavingapatternmoresimilartothoseofM katsura1sp nov thanto thoseof the

要 約
小宮次郎:タイおよびウ、ェトナムから発見されたMegopis属の2新種, ならびに同属2種の再
記載. _ 近年タイおよびヴェトナムからMegopis属の新種が発見されたので, M. (Aegosoma)
katsu,・a,spnov.と命名して記載した.雄触角第3節の内側に縦の溝があり, Aegosoma亜属の
sinica種群およびgigantea種群のものに似てぃるが,雄触角は体長の0.8倍で,同亜属の他の種
の場合に比較してはるかに短い. またタイ西部より近似の別の1新種が得られ, M.(A)cune,-
cornisspnov.として同時に記載した.前種によく似てぃるが,頭部が細長く,前胸背板は短く,
雄の触角は3, 4節の中央部が細く, それぞれの先端部がくさび状に太まるため,容易に区別で
きる. Megopis(A)annamensisは, pieにより1雌に基づいて1930年に記載され,以後報告がな
かった. この種の雄が発見されたので,新たに記載した.雄は体が炭黒色で触角第3節および
前腿節が非常に太く,雌と大きく違う.またこの種は前胸背板の側緑が明瞭に角張るなど際立
った特徴をもつ.Megopis(A)piciは, LAMEEREによって1915年に記載されて以来新しい記録や
追加的特徴の報告はないが,近年数個体が得られている. これら最近得られた個体はM.Piciと
同一種と考えられるが,雄の触角が体長の1.2倍近くあり,上翅が黒いなど,体長と触角が等
しく上翅が褐色で黒く縁取られるとした原記載に合わないので,近年得られた個体の特徴を記
載し,今後の検討に資する. LAMEEREが同じグループのものとしたM.(A)gtterryiLAMEERE,
1g15は,本文の中で詳細に比較しなかった.この種は上翅と触角が毛に覆われるとされ,別の
グループに所属すると考えられる.
