The classical pattern is to have the active couples Pass Thru … Separate Around One … Into the Middle … Pass Thru in the Middle … Split the Outside Two … Around One … Come Down the Middle … Right and Left Thru … At this point, everyone is back at home position. From there a caller can call any number of variations. In this clip (Click Here) I use mainly two routines with some other short figures mixed in. The goal posts are the inactive dancers. This is one of my mainstays for beginner dance parties. They are easy to explain to beginning dancers. Terminology like Pass Thru and Split are words that do not require much explaining. A lot of the time, when I use the pattern at a beginner party, I just eliminate the Right & Left Thru and have the dancers Pass Thru and stop at home and face in. It’s easier than trying to teach a Right & Left Through.
