Abstract

This study seeks to identify key aspects of success in ARAMCO’s supply chain
management. Over the years, Aramco has been able to develop and outdo other
companies within the same industry. The focus of the report therefore is to identify some
of the areas that the company is successful. In addition, the study seeks to propose some
of the measures that the company could take to improve its supply chain management.
The study looks at the areas where the company has had failures and proposes some of
the approaches that could be appropriate in mitigating the problem.

Entrepreneurial Communities:
The Relationships Between Local Leaders and Entrepreneurs

Abstract

This study focuses on the effects of local/community presence and interaction
within a community on local entrepreneurs. There are local leaders within every
community, whether they be part of the municipal, city, or state government, or highly
influential business leaders. In many cases there are also business mentoring or aid
institutions within communities such as SBDCs, SBAs, Chambers of Commerce, and
more. But are these leaders’ and institutions’ really “kicking ass” in their communities to
create a stronger entrepreneurial community?
Our hypotheses are: (1) Local Leadership Presence will have a significant,
positive relationship with (a) Community Outlook, (b) Self-Perception, and (c) Perceived
Business Success. (2) Community Leader Interaction will have a significant, positive
relationship with (a) Community Outlook, (b) Self-Perception, (c) Perceived Business
Success. (3) (a) Local Leadership Presence and (b) Community Leader Interaction will
have a significant, negative relationship to the Entrepreneur’s Stress Levels.
A sample (n=375) was taken from North Eastern Pennsylvanian Entrepreneurs
and small business owners. Respondents acquired from a Dunn & Bradstreet database
were sent electronic and paper copies of a survey. Their responses were used to create 11
dependent variables such as: ‘the entrepreneur’s perception of the local business
community’, ‘the entrepreneur’s perceived connection to the local community’, ‘the
entrepreneur’s self-perceived leadership competence’, and various others. Two
independent variables were used; one a scale measuring the entrepreneur’s perception of
the leadership presences in the community, the other a measure of the level of interaction
between community leaders and the entrepreneurial community. ‘Area’ was used to
mediate the dataset to test for significance across multiple area types. Lastly, respondents
who indicated they would like to have a personal interview were interviewed for
qualitative analysis.

A Discussion Relating to the Self-Image of Women Entrepreneurs

Abstract

The exploration of self-esteem, self-confidence, self-efficacy and entrepreneurial
success has been a popular literary topic in the last decade. A University from
Northeastern Pennsylvania is exploring Entrepreneurial Communities and the way that
leadership and local culture affects entrepreneurship. The data was collected through a
grounded theory research method. A mixed method survey and face-to-face interviews
were used to collect both quantitative and qualitative data. The survey questions “I take a
positive attitude toward myself” and “My business is successful,” will be analyzed
through a data analysis to try to find correlations between self-image and perceived
success.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to identify the correlation education has on
entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs can be defined as individuals “who perceive an opportunity
and create an organization to pursue it” (Kuckertz, 2013). The idea of entrepreneurship
education was almost non-existent in the 1970s, but over the last few decades it has
become more and more prevalent in universities. In today’s world, students are not only
educated for careers in existing businesses but are being introduced to the idea of self-
employment (Kuckertz, 2013). The concept of being one’s “own boss” is starting to
appeal to young adults. Entrepreneurial education has been proven to be strong influence
on student’s job performance, academic performance, and success in a business. With
this type of education being relatively new, there needs to be some improvements to the
overall structure of the curriculum. The use of entrepreneurship in higher level
institutions can produce graduates that are more successful and help improve local
economic development.

Abstract

The The population of women entrepreneurs has been increasing significantly
over the past century. This paper is a review of relevant literature to understand the
correlation between Estee Lauder’s success as a woman entrepreneur and the time period
in which she lived. The purpose of this research is to identify the leadership styles, traits,
and characteristics of Estee Lauder. Estee Lauder’s complex leadership style will then be
compared with the American culture of the 1900’s.
Lauder strived as an entrepreneurial leader in the midst of a changing society for
women. Lauder counteracted the traditional roles of the nineteenth century woman and
created her own career path as a successful entrepreneur in the cosmetic industry. She
identified her target market, uniquely branded her products, and grew an empire.
Through biographical literature and leadership theories, this review will identify Lauder’s
leadership styles though the StrengthsFinder assessment, Leadership Grid Theory, The
Big Five Model of Personality, and Theory Y management styles. Overlapping historical
facts will be included to create a full understanding of the hurdles that Lauder overcame.
In addition, Lauder’s ethical practices will be discussed.

Abstract

Lilly Pulitzer was an American entrepreneur who made her mark in the fashion
industry on complete accident. Pulitzer was the wife of the Peter Pulitzer Jr., grandson of
legendary publisher Joseph Pulitzer and founder of the Pulitzer Prize. She rose to fame
when she created a bold pattern dress to hide the stains on her clothes from her juice
stand. The famous “shift dress” became more popular than her juice. Soon after Lilly
Pulitzer Inc. was founded. As an entrepreneur, she exhibited many traits relating to
sociability and extraversion. Pulitzer was a leader who enjoyed and cared for others
deeply. In addition, under the motivation theory she demonstrated a high concern for
people but also a high concern for her business and production. Lilly did not see her job
as work, but rather as her passion. This passion and benevolence led her company to be a
leader in high-end clothing industry.
